Process Book
This book is a record of my attempts at establishing technique and aesthetic during the first 19 months of my Master of Fine Arts degree program at the University of Minnesota. It is neither a portfolio nor is it comprehensive. It is inspired by an assignment given to M.F.A. students at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design upon completing the first half of their program. The aim of such books—this one included—is to gather many of the small making moments, the sketches, the half-starts, or the projects you didn’t know for sure if they’d be worthwhile or not. As such, the book offers the possibility to see connections that may not have been obvious or intentional, and flattens out the pure reverence for formal presentation, favoring equally the process by which one eventually arrives at a presentable work of art.
From this book’s publication date (May 2020), I have one year to complete my thesis show.
